Bravo. Precisely the response I was hoping to evoke from someone
with a longer memory than mine. I never saw 6th Edition (except in
the Lion's Book), but I clearly remember how useless groups were
in 7th Edition, and are in System V.

I have no problem with an interoperability switch, provided that
it is default *off*, and that appropriate warnings about the
consequences are put into the documentation for people thinking
about turning it on.
