Well i have a DTTA 10GB IDE-disk and it works fairly well. You'll need the 
IDE-DMA Patches for 1.3.x or NetBSD-current to get real speed.

P.S.: Next time you should at least state the type of the disk and your 
architecture, or you'll never get good answers.
