I tried this (and many more besides - thanks to everyone who sent in mode
line suggestions) and it didn't work either.  I'm beginning to think that
it isn't even possible on this unit with NetBSD.  Is there anyone actually
running X in 800 x 600 mode on an IBM ThinkPad 560 on NetBSD 1.4?  If so,
please send me your config.

Note, the Trident video card only has 1 Mb. Could that be my problem?  I
don't know if I can even increase that.

I am using wscons so I used the following which worked.

    Protocol    "wsmouse"
    Device      "/dev/wsmouse0"
