The idea which immediately springs to mind is that some programmer working
on the BIOS had a warped sense of humour, and shoved some code like
if( some_ungodly_hour_in_morning && machine_up > SOME_LIMIT )
play_random_tune();
Of course the problem with this is that NetBSD doesn't use the BIOS once
booted, although doesn't apm use some 32-bit BIOS code? If you have apm
configured in your kernel, could you try building a new kernel without it
and turning off APM in the BIOS and see if that shuts the bloody thing up?
