I guess that wouldn't help much either, since mounting the filesystem is
not a problem, more of a problem is the fact that I get an instant panic
the moment I type ls .

I'm in the process of trying to get a 2.2 kernel to compile on an
ancient slackware I found here at home. The annoying thing about this is
that I can't find any documentation about rev 1 anywhere. I'm just
guessing it's a 2.2-thingie because I couldn't mount the fs on a 2.0
kernel.
