i think what we have here is a semantic difference that i don't really
think is worth debating.  i'll certainly defer to you and your
judgement of "what is", if you grant that my numbering scheme puts the
releases in a logical order.

i merely meant that it (1.4A et al) was a descendant of 1.4 because
1.4A contains all of what is 1.4.  no?
