wskbd mapping will fight for the tty while a standard keyboard mapping
will not.
...although, I must admit, I've had problems with key-repeat and such
when I've run with wskbd with NO console attached.
Oh, and beware: If you attach a different brand of mouse to your
computer, be sure to re-run xf86config :-) [even if you're using
/dev/wsmouse, you need to re-run it or your kb/mouse will lock up]
