That seemed to do the trick:

cac0 at pci1 dev 3 function 0: Compaq Smart Array 431
cac0: interrupting at irq 10
ZZZ: 0xca7b6000 CCB submitted
ZZZ: 0xca7b6000 CCB completed
ld0 at cac0 unit 0ZZZ: 0xca7b6000 CCB submitted
ZZZ: 0xca7b6000 CCB completed
: RAID5 array
ld0: 52079 MB, 13071 cyl, 255 head, 32 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 106659360 sectors

And I could carry on and play with the partition table and make filesystems on
it. Have to rebuild a whole system to get any further.

Thats problem 1 and 2 taken care of. Anyone got suggestions for 3 and 4?

cheers
