Hi!
I tried to connect two GA620 cards (one in a 1.5.1_BETA2/i386, one in
a todays -current/i386 system) directly with a 'cross over' fiber
which seems to work in general. Both cards are detected like
ti0 at pci0 dev 13 function 0: Netgear GA620 1000baseSX Gigabit Ethernet (rev. 0x01)
ti0: interrupting at irq 9
ti0: Ethernet address: 00:02:e3:00:1e:11
'ifconfig ti0' shows on both sides something like:
ti0: flags=8843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 9000
address: 00:02:e3:00:1e:11
media: Ethernet autoselect (1000baseSX full-duplex)
status: active
inet 10.31.5.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.31.5.255
inet6 fe80::202:e3ff:fe00:1e11%ti0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x2
But: I get a lot of
ti0: discarding oversize frame (len=2090)
messages, 'ping'ing with increasing packet sizes above '-s 1472'
fails.
Why? Is it not allowed to directly connect such NIC's?
Markus.
