I had trouble with Opera 6 on NetBSD 1.5.3 but it was explained to me,
that Opera 6 is supposed to run better on 1.6, probably due to the
better/newer Linux emulation. At the moment I cannot upgrade this
machine to 1.6 so I looked for a different solution.
My problem on 1.5.3 was caused, strangely enough, by the fact,
that ~/.opera/adprefs.ini has _no_ comment character (';') in its first
line. Using this line
; Opera Preferences version 2.0
in adprefs.ini lets me start Opera 6, when it only crashed with a
segfault before. All other *.ini files do not have this comment
character and all is well, only adprefs.ini needs it. I verified, that
on Linux Opera 6 doesn't need this small workaround.
I doubt, that this is the exact cause of your problem, because you are
using -current and the segfault doesn't occur right at the start.
