[ this is about netbsd-3, but it may still happen in current... and
  anyway, the branch hasn't diverged so much yet ]

I've NetBSD 3.0_BETA in two boxes: in one of them, I installed the
system from scratch.  In the other one, it was just an update from
2.99.16 or so.

But in both machines I can see the following messages (appearing in the
console and authlog):

Mar 27 23:46:20 sun sshd[8372]: Could not update /var/log/lastlogx:
Inappropriate file type or format
[...]
Mar 29 06:42:58 dawn login: Cannot update lastlogx Inappropriate file
type or format

Is something broken in the branch?
