I managed to capture the output during (near) the beginning and the end
of pan exiting after a kill -9 (it took somewhat shorter this time but
still rather long). I got some readings soon after I noticed it was
happening again, then I interrupted them and resumed after a short time.
Sometime during my second series of readings, pan was really exited, but
I did not notice right away (top was in another workspace).

I have made the output available, including a table at the start where I
put the readings from various moments next to each other, to make
