Hi,

This is FYI only.  It may help somebody avoid the problem.

After upgrading userland (i386) from ca. 28 June to 2 August, my kmail 
application (from kde 3.4.1) started failing with an assert error in 
pthreads.  Installing kde 3.4.2 fixed the problem.
