Did you use halt -p or shutdown -p now? try to enable the powerd
option in your /etc/rc.conf file and pressing the power off button
to see if that works.

To enable powerd:

	$ echo 'powerd=yes' >> /etc/rc.conf
	$ /etc/rc.d/powerd start
