umass problem with ipod

I have a relatively new problem mounting my ipod on my fairly -current
(1/7/09 ~19:45z) ibm t41p.  While I have an Attache pen drive that works
fine.

The ipod was working just fine before; but I rarely use the ipod, so I'm
not certain when the problem was introduced but I believe it was after
12/18/09.  I've made no effort to narrow that yet.

Is anyone else seeing the following problem?

At boot:
