fsck attempted on NFS root?
I just built -current (5.99.11) for macppc from sources updated this
morning (27 April 2009). I've been net-booting and NFS-rooting the
target machine for well over a year and this is the first time I saw
the rc scripts attempt to fsck the NFS root directory. Transcript:
[...]
root file system type: nfs
Mon Apr 27 17:24:25 CDT 2009
Starting root file system check:
Can't stat `server:/path/to/root' (No such file or
directory)server:/path/to/root: file system is mounted read-write on /; not
checking
Automatic file system check failed; help!
ERROR: ABORTING BOOT (sending SIGTERM to parent)!
1 2009-04-27T1724:25.331881-05:00 hostname init - - - `/bin/sh' on `/etc/rc'
terminated abnormally, going to single user mode
Enter pathname of shell or RETURN for /bin/sh:
If I simply 'exit' the single-user shell, the system seems to continue
coming up in multi-user mode.
The server is running NetBSD-4.0_STABLE/i386 built from sources updated
two weeks ago.
Very strange.
