The other thing that I found odd with the output was that the card has
4 ports but dmesg said
atabus0 at mvsata0 channel 0
atabus1 at mvsata0 channel 1
atabus2 at mvsata0 channel 2
atabus3 at mvsata0 channel 3
atabus4 at mvsata0 channel 4
atabus5 at mvsata0 channel 5
atabus6 at mvsata0 channel 6
atabus7 at mvsata0 channel 7
and one disk attached (to port 3) but
mvsata0 port 3: device present, speed: 3.0 Gb/s
mvsata0 port 7: device present, speed: 3.0 Gb/s
