Seemed that root device: was waiting for input, but I didn't notice that since 
my connected usb-keyboard failed to work there.
While booting with consdev com0 instead and using a terminal, I was able to use 
cd0b and press <ENTER> thought some more questions, which finally got me to the 
installer...   

Bug or feature?
