Which is not such a big deal, since after all the Areca controllers
can be managed by Ethernet (typically I plug the controller's
Ethernet back into one of the host's own interfaces and manage
the controller that way if needed).

But this is a 1680 -- the system Hauke's looking at has an 1880 or
1882 or maybe even something newer like the 1882v3.
I don't know how the 1680 will perform with the SSDs the system he
is looking at has. But if the vendor can supply a 1680, I suppose
that would be one option.
These days, it's basically that, Marvell OEM stuff like the
Highpoint cards that we don't have drivers for, or the MegaRAIDs,
I guess. And of those choices... we should find the time to make
the newer Areca controllers work, I think, the other options are
not so great.
