Hello, After all the work some devs did with nouveau support for NetBSD. I wanted to give it a try and see by myself. First point, the nVidia graphic card support out of the box : In the past, I tried NetBSD on my laptop running a nVidia GTX 765m and I never succeed to start X at that time, whatever I was trying. Today, vesa driver is perfectly running on my laptop offering me 1024x768 resolution (not higher) on a 1920x1080 monitor and when I try to use nouveau, I simply have [drm] KMS not enabled. My question is : Is it simply because I always build xorg from pkgsrc instead of using xsrc (I still didn't try with xsrc) ? Isn't it actually possible to run nouveau with modular xorg ? Or is it because I need to load KMS in the kernel ? It would be great to explain in details how to use nouveau for people who were waiting for this and are not familiar with NetBSD yet so more people could try and send feedback to help improving NetBSD :) And, sincerely, thank you for your amazing work, guys, nouveau was an important point for me. |
