Re: ***Problem solved*** mount options noexec,nosuid,nodev
<brilliant red face of embarassment!>
Ok, problem solved... Big pilot error....
Some-how, the following line managed to creep into my ~/.cshrc file:
alias mount mount -o nodev -o noexec -o nosuid
I can't remember when the last time was that I edited this file, and I
can't imagine why I would have put this in, but obviously this is what
causes my "problem".
If I specify an explicit path for /sbin/mount everything works just
fine; it only fails when I say "mount ..." which lets the shell search
for the command and apply the alias substitution.
I think I'll remove that line from .cshrc
