There must be something strange going on here (like cvs messing up the
timestamp of updated files), there seems to be only one commit in that
timeframe:

and that certainly won't affect the kernel.
The "cvs timestamp" theory is likely, btw., there was an issue on the server
that christos fixed yesterday.
Did you clean the kernel build directory between iterations?
