This might seem strange given Paul & Martin's helpful answers - somehow
they didn't hit the list before I wrote the above. (I had tried
make clean and make cleandir in lib/libc and compat/amd64/i386/lib/libc.
Given the termcap note, I'm now having a successful MKUPDATE=no build)
