some hardware support questions

My old machine died, and i'm preparing for a new build.  as alway,
I'm confused about our supprt for video cards.  I thought I had
been told we support GeForce GT1080 series but turns out that that
doesn't work.  So, what is the "best" supported card?  I need one
that has hdmi output.

also, the new motherboard has LAN chip that is identified as "Vendor
14c3 product 7927".  Does anyone know what this is, and how near we
might b to supporting it?  alternatively,, any suggestions for a
specific pci-e add-on card for lan?

finally, it has a "ASMedia product 2425" usb hci.  less important
but would still be nice to have support.
