Have you configured sendmail?  I've had problems, but not those.
I haven't looked at this for a while, and won't get to it for a
few days...  The last problem I had, sendmail would receive the
mail, process it, deliver it, then return it with a "hard error
address deleted."

Use the sun for a while longer...
