It looks like FreeBSD is doing the right thing. Robert Watson has
created a ufs file system that supports ACLs. There are kernel
options to support the new file system, and I'm assuming they will
have newfs options for file system type - ffs, ufs, or lfs.

Thus, there is a choice.

Solaris took a different path. On a Solaris 2.6 or whatever
box see:

/usr/include/sys/acl.h
/usr/include/sys/fs/ufs_acl.h

With Solaris there are no options.
