Taking for granted I understood what you meant
by canned (packed into a tin can, labeled, funky):
Isn't canned stuff just for can-baiting?
Maybe you mean to can/sell for embedded industry only,
like one of those websites depicting a seasoned
professional, smiling, with a factory helmet and a big
funky banner saying "keep on dreaming, you can fly"
and stuff? If so, I must say I agree, NetBSD needs
a makeup, even the most geeker-genius geek will
tidy up for a job interview, or should, no matter if
the job is already his already for being the best.
But, if you mean to can it for consumer/luser
market, oh boy, that would be sin. There is no
need to enpenguin our precious NetBSD just for the
sake of audience. Left apart that it's foul (a la TV show),
none of such audience is likely to need NetBSD anyway.
I'm not saying NetBSD isn't for anyone, I'm saying it's
not for anyone who ignores what it is or refuses to
acknowledge what it is. The average dude/enthusiast/professional
who does not know the difference between true multiplatform,
and true multi-penguin-profiling, most likely, should not
need NetBSD.
Feed men with meat, children with milk.
