Recently, Google announced that was sponsoring a competition where
college students can earn money for working on an open source project.
As a part of the deal, the students are to work with a mentoring
organization. So far, these include groups like the Apache Project, the
Ubuntu Linux Distribution, the Perl Project, the Mono Project, and the
Python Project. I think it would be nice to have NetBSD involved.
Mentoring organizations receive $500 for each student they oversee
(students end up with $4500). More details are at the following links:

Most of the mentoring organizations have posted projects that they wish
to be done, so that students can pick from a list of those. It could be
beneficial for the NetBSD project to do the same.
