As everyone knows, the sources for Netscape Communicator were
released on March 31st. This free version is called "Mozilla",
after the cute dragon that was originally the logo of Netscape
browsers.

A Mozilla package has been added to the NetBSD-current package
source tree. This is currently only tested on the i386. Sparc and m68k
may Just Work, but are untested. Other NetBSD architectures may
need some minor adjustments to the source code to work, in some
platform-specific configuration files.

The package will work on 1.3 and 1.3.1 as well, for those of you
who may be using the pkgsrc tree on those releases. If you
are not using packages at all, you can still grab the patchfile
included in the package and use that to compile Mozilla. The
patchfile is available in the file patches/patch-aa in the
mozilla package.

Mozilla needs Motif. Motif is not freely available, but here is
a free Motif clone called Lesstif. However, the latest release
of Lesstif (0.83) will make Mozilla bomb out pretty soon. You need
lesstif-current to get a better shot at success. Lesstif is currently
constantly being improved to work with Mozilla.

The executables are installed as "moz-export" (dynamically linked
version) and "mozilla-export" (statically linked). Also installed
are all the shared objects that moz-exports is linked with.
Note that you will need some 100 Mb to store the distributed
.tar.gz source file + unpacked sources + compiled objects. You
need some 6.5Mb more to install.

I have submitted the diffs to mozilla.org, and will continue to do
so as the package keeps up with newer versions. Please contact me
if you have NetBSD-specific problems.
