I've seen 'em in /usr/openwin/lib. It's a reasonable design choice to stick
all the X11 directories under a single path, with symlink for software
that assumes it's elsewhere. A much better choice than sticking bits and
pieces of it everywhere anyway.

An /etc/default/* file containing all these paths is even better.
