The only other reported case of something like this with the currrent
driver was because of a misconfigured drive. As far as I know, all IDE
drives can be configured as `single', `master' or `slave'. In you have
one drive, then you need to make sure it's configured as the `single'
drive; if you have two, one needs to be the `master' and the other the
`slave'. If you miscofigure the drives, you will lose. Consult your
documentation for how to do this.
