This is what I had happened to me when I upgraded to current from 0.9.
I then compiled a new kernel without the pms driver. I _think_ I
was able to boot single user to do this, multiuser wouldn't fly then.
After I was able to boot sucessfull and got everything to work, I later
added pms support via the old patched 0.9 driver as a last ditch effort.
It worked amazingly enough.
There was some discussion about getting that pms driver into the tree, but
cgd said it's basically up to charles; he's been silent on this topic
thus far.
If you would like to try the other driver, i can mail it to you. However
I'm running stuff pre-off_t changes, so me compiling a kernel to send along
without pms support is useless to you :(
Can you boot single user and make it? If so, try compiling one yourself...
