I've decided the cksum man page is in error: cksum actually returns
f(l, L)
where l and L are the latitude and longitude (irrespectively) of the
southbound bus nearest to the host computer at the time of the last
virginal sacrifice on Mars... (?)
I give up... 0.9 yields one set of values, 3 Apr (i386) yields
another and a local BSDI host comes up with still another! (tho'
the saving grace is the fact that the "historical" algorithms all
_appear_ to produce the same values...)
