I'm trying to reinstall everything from scratch.  I downloaded the
   files from gatekeeper.dec.com from the NetBSD-1.0/i386 hierarchy
   including the floppies.  The dates on the files were Nov 29 1994
   so I'm assuming there have been changes since Oct. 26th which is the
   last time I downloaded everything.

They *shouldn't* be different.  We certainly haven't released new
floppy images.  I just looked on gatekeepr, and the floppy images are
dated Oct. 24.

Are you using the kernel in the kcaha-10.fs or kcbt-10.fs image?  If
so, I have to suggest that your floppy may be corrupted.  If this is
not the case, then I'll have to make you a new floppy image with a
different kernel on it for debugging purposes.
