i just tried it with NetBSD -current and NetBSD-1.0-or-so, against
Ultrix. it also works against DEC OSF/1 3.x (now DEC UNIX, i guess),
but not OSF/1 2.0 (because 2.0 had a broken talk/talkd).
i don't have a BSD/386 1.1 system to try it against, but until i try
it and it fails, i'm not convinced that it doesn't work...
