non-media failure is a message that is initiated by your DRIVE
it means it is having problems..
I could imagine thatit might have interface problems due to a bad adapter
but it's unlikely, and you've tried 2 anyhowm so it sounds like your drive
is heading for failure..
NON-Media indicates that it's not the media, so
that leaves teh mechanicals (unlikely) or the electroncs....
I had one recently where teh DSP on board failed..
the drive returned the same error..
