Sometimes when linking ld gives a strange error message:
ld: Spurious undefined symbols: # undefined symbols 1, reported 0
This is a very uninformative message, and it doesn't tell you
how to correct the problem.

I cannot produce a simple example that generates this message,
but I have a 4Mbyte link that generates it.
