System: NetBSD road-runner.mit.edu 1.3E NetBSD 1.3E (ROAD-RUNNER) #98: Mon Mar 23 22:12:16 EST 1998 nathanw@road-runner.mit.edu:/u1/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/ROAD-RUNNER i386
>Description:
The maintainer of bzip2 removed two Win32 executables from the
bzip2-0.1pl2.tar.gz distribution file on 1998/3/3, and modified the
README.DOS to explain why. As a result, the MD5 sum changed. No other
files in the distribution were changed.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to make the bzip2 package. Watch it fail the checksum test
(assuming the build obtained the distfile from the master site).
>Fix:
Change the MD5 sum given in files/md5, after downloading from the distribution
site and comparing the contents with the bzip2-0.1pl2.tar.gz on ftp.netbsd.org.
Whether the bzip maintainer should be pestered for not changing the patchlevel
or some other visible aspect of the package is left as an exercise for
release-engineering theorists.
