System: NetBSD zen.quick.com.au 1.3 NetBSD 1.3 (ZEN) #1: Sun Feb 15 23:38:24 EST 1998 root@zen.quick.com.au:/u0/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/ZEN i386
>Description:
New barracuda 4G disk (ST34573N) attached to 2nd scsi bus, probes ok
but boot hangs at:
...
isapnp0: <Creative SB AWE64 PnP, CTL0022, , WaveTable> port 0x620/4 not configured
isapnp0: <Creative SB AWE64 PnP, CTL2011, PNP0600, IDE> port 0x168/8,0x36e/2 irq 10 not configured
biomask 1840 netmask 1c40 ttymask 1c42
Next would normally be
boot device: sd0
Instead we get:
sd3(aha2:3:0) timed out
sd3(aha2:3:0) timed out AGAIN
and game over. Leaving the drive powered off is the only way to get
the system up.
The factory defaults are active termination at the drive, parity
checking enabled, motor start immediately.
I've tried active termination at the drive as well as passive
terminator, enabling motor start (won't spin up until controller asks)
dissabling parity (aha2 appears not to do parity).
All get the same result. Leaving the tape drive off one can hear the
disk heads seek and the motor spin up - though it is very quiet so I'm
not 200% sure of that.
I also tried dropping the tape drive out of the chain incase cable
length was an issue - though its not long at all.
In case it helps here is full dmesg (without sd3 as its powered off):
