Well sort of:
I did a kill -TERM 1 to get to single user mode.
I used sync 3 or 4 times.
However the command time 19980804 just incrimented the year by 1 year. So
to get from 1930 to 1998 took alot of time sets :-)
The year was correct but the day and month were off, I left them be. I
touched the root filesystem and turned off the computer without a sync and
set the CMOS clock.
Everything worked okay. I let ntp correct the month and day.
