I just KNOW I'm going to regret this.

No such book exists. The first revision made after the initial edition
was the ANSI C version, which is labeled "Second Edition". I have a
copy of K&R before me printed just before the ANSI version came out it
is not labeled "Second Edition" and is textually identical to the
quotations previously given. The only "Second Edition" was the ANSI
version. I'm reasonably sure of this as I purchased my first copy of
K&R AFTER 1984. (Forgive me, I hacked on DEC-20s until then.)

But please, by all means, continue to reference a book only you have
seen instead of being a gentleman and backing down when you've been
shown to be just plain wrong.
