NetBSD firewall 1.4.2 NetBSD 1.4.2 (FIREWALL) #1: Sat May 27 11:59:41 PDT 2000 root@firewall:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/FIREWALL i386
>Description:
If you run the following command:
ifconfig INTERFACE up mtu 1500
the interface is brought down and put into debug mode. I suspect it is the "mtu 1500" portion of the command which is doing it. In my case the interface is "we1" but I suspect it is not specific to the "we" driver and that any Ethernet interface will do.
>How-To-Repeat:
Type:
ifconfig INTERFACE up mtu 1500
Substitute your Ethernet interface for INTERFACE. Then run:
ifconfig -a
to see what state the interface is in now (pay particular attention to the flags).
>Fix:
Reboot.
