On the Apollo chipsets it seems that the DMA mode is tied to be two
less than the PIO mode, with an obvious minimum of zero. The gentler
we are with the PIO mode, the better the DMA mode will work.

D'oh. Mea culpa. I blame the fact that I submitted the fix while at
work, and I didn't have access to a decently sized emacs window. I
will fix the fix.
