System: NetBSD fartmangler.redback.com 1.5.1_BETA2 NetBSD 1.5.1_BETA2 (NETZUUL151) #2: Tue May 15 14:38:42 PDT 2001 notroot@veal.babymeat.com:/raid/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/NETZUUL151 i386
>Description:
Here're some "stupid user tricks" problems in sysinst:
Actual bug:
on i386, in the 'dos partitioning' editing table, if you delete partition
'3', and then make a new partition starting at '0' and ending at '0', it
complains with the error message "There are overlapping MBR partitions or
there is not exactly one NetBSD partition." [answering "no" to this question
proceeds on to disklabel editing; I don't know if this is a bug or not.]
Change requests:
In the disklabel editing section, if you select a non-power-of-two
bsize or fsize, it doesn't complain until it actually tries to label
the disk. (This doesn't actually cause sysinst to crash, but it makes you
start over from the very beginning. This would be "nice" to fix, but far
from necessary.)
Also, the partition editor displays partitions a-p, but doesn't actually
let you edit i-p.
And in the "users who do something insanely stupid" category, if
you choose 'custom installation' and unselect 'base', and then proceed
with the install and try to set a root password, it fails find and run
'passwd -l'; it asks the rhetorical question "did you install all
necessary sets?" and then aborts, dumping you to a shell prompt.
It should arguably go back to the main menu.
>How-To-Repeat:
For the 'dos partitioning' bit, here's the sequence I used:
"install", "yes", "ok", "this is the correct geometry", "part of the disk",
"megabytes", "edit partition 3", "kind", "unused", "OK", "edit partition 0",
"kind", "NetBSD", "start and size", "0", "0", "OK", "exit".
