NetBSD cziarhe.fds.ulcc.ac.uk 1.5X NetBSD 1.5X (GENERIC) #3: Fri Aug 3 03:21:28 BST 2001 root@cziarhe.fds.ulcc.ac.uk:/u1/current/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC i386
>Description:
The entry for get/setprogname() in /usr/src/UPDATING could be clearer.
It currently says:
20010219:
get/setprogname() added. Any hostprog's that may use this will need
to be bootstrapped manually until the host system is current.
Known problems: sys/arch/macppc/stand/fixcoff
usr.sbin/config (adding -DMAKE_BOOTSTRAP to
CFLAGS and rebuilding should work)
usr.sbin/mdsetimage - Build a static copy if
building a snapshot before fully bootstrapped.
But how should programs be "bootstrapped manually?"
Would it be appropriate to suggest that once a current kernel is
installed, libc should be built and installed with the "NOLINT=1"
option, which will then make the calls available to user programs?
>How-To-Repeat:
Try updating to -current from a pre-mid-February system.
>Fix:
Rephrase the stanza in /usr/src/UPDATING
