>Description:
Installation of the NetBSD-current 1.5X is not possible without plugging in
extra (network) hardware. The build in ethernet device de0 - replaced later
by the tlp0 - doesnt work as does the CDROM.
The ethernet device does work when still operated from the bootprom and
successfully boots into an installation kernel. When NetBSD takes over
however it completely stops functioning. No transmissions are made and as
far as i could see no reception was possible too. The Linux distribution i
got with the machine was able to work on the ethernet device.
The CDROM does look to work and i can get information of it BUT the
information retrieved is not correct; the tar's i got from the CD are all
corrupt. Testing the CD on a different machine shows that the information
on the CD is correct. I haven't compared the files yet but all tar's are
faulted.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to install NetBSD on the machine :|
>Fix:
A quick fix around the problem is to add a PCI network card like a cheap
RealTecLogic card i used. This card is recognized by the install kernel and
then its possible to fetch the sets from another machine.
