>Description:
If date is set too old, then network doesn't work. No errors, it just
doesn't transmit or receive packets.
% ping 10.0.1.1
PING 10.0.1.1 (10.0.1.1): 56 data bytes
^C
----10.0.1.2 PING Statistics----
0 packets transmitted, 0 packets received,
Several users have reported this on different platforms (PowerBook G3,
PowerMacintosh 7300).
This situation might arise if a user "zaps PRAM" on their mac, which will
clear out the current date/time. Also, when motherboard batteries die,
the date is reset to either 1901 or 1956 (depending on model).
>How-To-Repeat:
date 190101010101
ping 10.0.1.1
>Fix:
Prevent bogus dates?
