I have created a package for gwc, the Gnome Wave Cleaner, which
removes hiss and clicks from recordings from vinyl albums. It is
useful as a Unix replacement for CoolEdit 2000.

Gwc was developed under GNU/Linux so I had to add several patches to
make it work portably. I am in contact with the author and he has
agreed to include my patches in the next release (although that will
not be for a while). [Side note: one of the patches I made was to
#include <soundcard.h> instead of <sys/soundcard.h>. It makes sense in
this case to follow GNU/Linux and FreeBSD and move soundcard.h to the
sys directory to improve source-level compatibility.]

The Makefile I created for gwc needs a little cleaning up. For
example, gwc installs its binary in the same place as the GNU
textutils's wc (word count), but it seems wrong to label textutils as
a "conflict". However, renaming either program could cause confusion.
Perhaps it would be best if the pkgsrc system could rename gnome wave
cleaner to something like gnomewc if or when GNU textutils is
installed.
