If no varname is given to make -V it dumps the core. make -V var (eg. LDFLAGS)
works fine.
(gdb) run -V
Starting program: /usr/bin/make -V
(no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)...
Program received signal SIGSEGV, Segmentation fault.
