tron@colwyn:~>zcat -f /var/log/maillog | wc -l
zcat: input not gziped

tron@beaver:~>zcat -f /var/log/maillog | wc -l
20123
This incompatiblity will break shell scripts which use "zcat -f" to
be able to handle compressed and uncompressed files.
